Miss America statues Just down the road from the former Townley's (now Brauma's) milk bottle and the Gold Dome is Oklahoma City University. And welcoming students and visitors to the campus, there they are: your ideal, the dreams of a million girls -- a trio of statues dedicated to the school's three Miss America winners, Jane Jayroe, Susan Powell and Shawntel Smith.
the Oklahoma National Memorial and Museum remembers those killed in the 1995 Murrah Federal Building bombing. The outdoor monument includes a field filled with 168 empty chairs to represent those who lost their life in the bombing. The indoor museum gives a glimpse of what that morning was like. In one room, an audio recording from a courtroom near the Murrah Building replays the chaos and confusion of those first few minutes. Do visit, but bring the tissues.
Oklahoma City University’s Wanda L. Bass School of Music will host the Romero Guitar Institute for a week-long classical guitar program starting June 8, taught by the world-renowned quartet Los Romeros from Spain.
