100th anniversary of the NHL - November 20, 2017:  Wayne 'The Great One' Gretzky -  Considered the greatest player ever, Wayne Gretzky played 20 seasons in the NHL for four teams after briefly playing in the World Hockey Association. He led the Edmonton Oilers to four Stanley Cups in the 1980s. Gretzky holds or shares 61 NHL records, the most for any player. His most impressive record is for 2,856 points (894 goals, 1,962 assists).

He has the most wins of any goalie in history with 691 (140 more than runner-up Patrick Roy). In his 21 seasons, mostly with the New Jersey Devils, Brodeur won three Stanley Cups, four Vezina trophies (best goalie) and five Jennings trophies (fewest goals allowed).
