The Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff — which opened in April, 1931 — was the first movie theater in Dallas, Texas, built expressly to show movies with sound. It was also the largest “suburban” theater in the Dallas area — only downtown’s first-run Majestic and Palace theaters were larger. Photo is of the theater’s original “Venetian-style” interior.
