Mission San Juan Capistrano, CA where people come to greet the return of the Swallows each Spring....

Mission San Juan Capistrano, California is truly one of my favorite places on Earth. I mean that. If I ever move to the West Coast I will live in this city and NONE OTHER. San Juan Capistrano or nothin'. There is a lot to do if you want, but it's also quiet if you want to relax. Beautiful area, friendly people, lots of history, and the mission.... <3

The California Missions are a series of 21 settlements running up the California coastline from what is now San Diego all the way to San Francisco. These missions were established by the kingdom of Spain & founded & maintained by missionary Catholic priests, monks & brothers while also serving as military garrisons for Spanish soldiers. The first mission was built in 1769 under the supervision of Father Serra in what is now San Diego. After a time, the missions would expand into a small town.
