Michelangelo's Pieta in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, Italy. I remember waiting in a very long line at the World's Fair in New York when I was 5 years old to see this. I was in awe even as a little girl. Truly a masterpiece if ever there was one.

Detail of "David" is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture created between 1501 and 1504, by the Italian artist Michelangelo. It is a 5.17-metre (17.0 ft)[1] marble statue of a standing male nude. The statue represents the Biblical hero David. The warning glare no doubt was for the giant Goliath slew by David. The statue of David is the best known and the most reproduced work in the history of art.
