July 10, 1962: Martin Luther King Jr. and Ralph David Abernathy were convicted of charges stemming from his 1961 attempt to desegregate government buildings in Albany, Georgia. The judge sentenced them to a $178 fine or 45 days in jail. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Reverend Ralph Abernathy are escorted from the courthouse back to jail in Albany.
