Martin Crowe (1962-2016) was just 53 when he died. He was a New Zealand cricket player and commentator who played for NZ between 1982 and 1995, and is regarded as the country's greatest batsman. He made his Test debut for New Zealand at the age of 19. Named a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1985, he was appointed New Zealand's captain in 1990, and led the team until 1993. When he finished his international career in 1995, he held the NZ records for the most Test and ODI runs.
