Join Ted Cheeseman, Co-founder and CEO of HappyWhales.com, to learn more about whales and their recovery over the past few generations. This lecture will explore the dynamics of whales in our marine ecosystem as learned through photographic ID and citizen science. This talk is part of a monthly Speaker Series sponsored by the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society. For more information, go to www.scvas.org.

2/21/13 This article redefines biodiversity and the variables impacting it. It details how humans have had both positive and negative interactions with the globe's biodiversity through their land usage, and how declines in biodiversity often affect the functioning of the surrounding ecosystem.

What is the 'other carbon dioxide problem'? How are humans driving changes in the chemistry of the ocean, and what might this mean for marine ecosystems in the future?

Is this the world’s most overlooked #ecosystem? Under the sea exists a lifeform vital to the #health of marine ecosystems and beneficial to humans. It’s not #sharks, which keep food chains in balance. And it’s not #coralreefs, which are the most #biodiverse #marine ecosystems. It’s grass. Well, #seagrass. Which is a flowering #plant, more like a lily than a grass.
