Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, UK, is known as the “cradle of the law” because it was here that the barons swore to make King John sign Magna Carta. On 20th November 1214, the Archbishop of Canterbury and 25 barons met here under cover of attending the Feast of St Edmund.
