In an unlikely series of events, short-track speed skater Steven Bradbury became the first Australian to win a gold medal at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. Bradbury's feat has entered the Australian colloquial vernacular in the phrase "doing a Bradbury", or "Bradburied" (as a verb).
