Lakota Chief David Bald Eagle was born on April 8, 1919, on the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation. Over the course of his life he was an actor, a stunt man, an army sergeant in World War II, a competitive ballroom dancer, a rodeo competitor, and Wild West show performer. He rode in many of the Days of ’76 parades over the years, starting in 1928. His family presented his hat, currently on display, to the Days of '76 Museum shortly after he passed away on July 22, 2016.
