St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery in Kiev, Ukraine. Originally built in the Middle Ages incorporating elements that evolved from styles prevalent during Byzantine & Baroque period. Often destroyed by Polish and the Tatar-Mongol invaders, restored many times. The original cathedral was demolished by the Soviet authorities in 1930s, but reconstructed and opened in 1999 following Ukrainian independence.
