Innkeeper outfit. Rugged, scraggy and very creepy looking.

Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan (1885) Ilya Repin

Post with 8995 votes and 1373546 views. The most intense and emotional painting I have ever seen. Ivan the Terrible holding his dying son after a fit of rage.

Ilia Efimovich Repin Vsevolod Mikhailovich Garshin (detail), 1884, oil on canvas, 35x27in

Garshin is more than just a beautifully rendered head. In this painting I feel like I am seeing the whole story of a man’s life depicted in the eyes alone. When I first saw Garshin, I immediately did some research to discover who he was in real life.
