I use Mary Berry's fairy cake recipe as a 'master batter' to experiment with different flavours. Literally just 4oz each butter, sugar, flour, 1 tsp baking powder and 2 eggs - easily memorised!

Isabelle's cake was made lovingly by yours truly. it is a fairy inspired cake, which was the theme for her first birthday party. I made the cake by using 3 cake packet mixes, then divided into 6 mixtures and colored them with food coloring creating the 'rainbow cake'. i froze the cakes as it is easier to ice (and you can make them in advance). i made a mock cream icing to cement the layers and also fill in the gaps.
