HAWAII: ALOHA TOWER Located on Pier 9, the 10-story Aloha Tower has been a focal point for ships arriving in Honolulu since 1926. The iconic tower was the tallest building in Hawaii for roughly 40 years. It was painted in camouflage after the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack, so it would be difficult for enemies to see at night. Our travel hiccup returning from Japan also gave us 2 days in Hawaii. We got to see Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, and Hanauma Bay, which was formed when a volcano collapsed on itself. It was a great time, especially knowing that it was the week before Christmas and everyone I knew back home was freezing their asses off...
