Jonathan Myrick Daniels (March 20, 1939 – Augist 20, 1965) was a graduate of VMI & an Episcopal seminarian who fought for civil rights. On Aug 14, 1965, Daniels went to picket whites-only stores in Fort Deposit, AL. The protesters were arrested and taken to jail in Hayneville. On Aug 20, he was released and went to get a drink. A white supremacist attempted to shoot a young African American teenager with him. He jumped in front of her and was killed. Episcopal Commemoration: 14 Aug
