If we make our hearts gods and ask them to lead us they will lead us to narcissistic misery and ultimately damnation. They cannot save us because whats wrong with our hearts is the heart of our problem. But if our hearts believe in God as they are designed to then God saves us (Hebrews 7:25) and leads our hearts to exceeding joy…

Melchizedek was a man, appointed by God to be High Priest before the priesthood lineage of Aaron was established. Melchizedek is also a foreshadow of Jesus Christ in that Jesus could not be appointed our High Priest without first having become a man (incarnate).

The five primary offerings under Moses’ Law are explained in Leviticus 1 - 7, and should be studied in connection with the book of Hebrews. Each is a different pose of Jesus on the cross.

In Hebrews is the present Christ who is now in the heavens as our Minister (8:2) and our High Priest (4:14-15; 7:26), ministering to us the heavenly life, grace, authority, and power, and sustaining us to live a heavenly life on earth. He is the Christ now, the Christ today, and the Christ on the throne who is our daily salvation and moment-by-moment supply. Witness Lee, Life-study of Hebrews, pp. 12-13

Hebrews 7:11-12 (KJV) ~ If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Christ is able to save us because He intercedes for us (Hebrews 7:25b). As our High Priest, Christ undertakes our case by interceding for us. He appears before God on our behalf [9:24], praying for us that we may be saved and brought fully into God’s eternal purpose. We need to simply rest in His intercession, trust in it, and enjoy it. Be assured that our divine High Priest is continually interceding for us....We have a perpetual, constant, and eternal Intercessor. (WL)

Christ has not been constituted the High Priest according to the powerless letters of the law but according to the powerful element of an indestructible life (Hebrews 7:16). Nothing can dissolve this life. It is an endless life, being the eternal, divine, uncreated, resurrection life that has passed through the test of death and Hades (Acts 2:24; Revelation 1:18). It is by such a life that Christ ministers today as our High Priest. (WL)
