Eton College - One of the top public, meaning private, schools in the UK. - Eton was founded in 1440 as the “King’s College of Our Lady of Eton besides Wyndsor” by Henry VI to provide a free education for “70 poor scholars” (the original inhabitants of College), who would then go on to King’s College Cambridge, founded by Henry the following year.
