Guerrilla Warfare. The French Resistance played a vital part in aiding the Allies to success in Western Europe -especially leading up to D-Day in June 1944. The French Resistance supplied the Allies with vital intelligence reports as well as doing a huge amount of work to disrupt the German supply and communication lines within France. No glorification, no heroism, just history. *Note the British "Sten" submachine gun shouldered by the rear most fighter.

"Anthropologist Germaine Tillion was a commander in the French Resistance network of Musée de l'Homme in Paris. Her missions included helping prisoners escape and organising intelligence for allied forces. Betrayed by a priest, she was sent to Ravensbrück, with her mother. In 1973, she published Ravensbruck, detailing both her experiences as well as her research into the functioning of the camps, movements of prisoners, administrative operations and crimes committed by the SS."

Caroline's friend anthropologist Germaine Tillion, a commander in the French Resistance network, arrested and sent to Ravensbruck.

Another hero of the French Resistance during World War II and decorated for saving the lives of U.S. soldiers shot down behind enemy lines was Micheline Blum-Picard. Only eighteen-years-old when she first became involved in the Resistance, Blum-Picard started by carrying messages taped to her back and then progressed to photographing inside factories damaged by bombing raids  By D-Day, however, she was carrying a rifle, a pistol, and a hand grenade wherever she went.

Parisian-rebel Simone Segouin, also known by her nom de guerre “Nicole”, with a German submachine gun MP-40. She killed an unknown number of Germans and captured 25. She was present at the fall of Chartres, on August 23, 1944, and liberation of Paris. She was promoted to lieutenant, and awarded the Croix de guerre.
