Progressive Era public health reforms inspired a response to the growing demand for sanitation through the rapid increase in bathroom-fixture production. Students use FRED, economic data from Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, to analyze how bathroom-fixture production changed throughout the 1920s. They also examine primary documents—1920s advertising. Finally, students respond to AP U.S. History-style questions.

Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Tours are available daily Monday - Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for groups of 40 or less. Pleas make arrangements two weeks in advance. Tour lasts approximately 1½ hours and is recommended for Girl Scout Juniors or older. Tour is free of charge.
