1979:Apocalypse Now war adventure set during the Vietnam War, produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall and Martin Sheen. The film follows the central character, Captain Benjamin L. Willard (Sheen), on a secret mission to assassinate the renegade and presumed insane Colonel Walter E. Kurtz (Brando). The screenplay by Coppola updates the setting of Joseph Conrad's novella Heart of Darkness to that of the Vietnam War.

A lot of pretentious drivel once Willard finds Kurtz but, by God, its a sheer delight joining Willard on his mission every time. Coppola's film is loaded with genuinely classic moments and awash with beautiful, unforgettable scenery and images. Possibly the finest War Film of all time, regardless of how silly it gets towards the end. Cracking Soundtrack too.
