The Pope-Leighey House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1941 in Falls Church, VA for Loren and Charlotte Pope. The Popes sold it to Robert and Marjorie Leighey in 1946. In 1961, the house was condemned for the construction of Interstate 66. Ms. Leighey donated it to the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 1964. The home was dismantled, moved, and reconstructed at Woodlawn Plantation in Alexandria, VA where it opened in 1965. Discover more history @ www.thehistorygirl.com
