Although not quite the world's longest snake, the green anaconda is certainly the heaviest. The female is almost five times heavier than the male, weighing in at well over 200 kilograms. The green anaconda spends much of its time in the water where it hunts prey including deer, capybara and caiman. Its unfortunate victims are squeezed to death before being swallowed whole, as the elastic ligaments in the green anaconda's jaw enable it to swallow prey much wider than its own head.
