Jesus told the disciples to "Receive the Holy Spirit" (John 20:19-23) but He also told them wait for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4-5).  So what did they receive when Jesus blew on them Resurrection Sunday, and how is that receiving of the Holy Spirit different than what they…

I really liked this Bible study except one thing. I didn't agree with is that we are the Bride of Christ. I believe we are the sons of God. I see the Bride as the Jews that will be saved (and added) after the rapture of the church.

“I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We surely do not want to be in the condition of the church in Sardis. We want to be living and active in gospel preaching, in nourishing the new ones, in perfecting the saints, and in prophesying to build up the Body of Christ [John 15:16; Matthew 24:45; Ephesians 4:12; 1 Corinthians 14:1, 3-5, 12].…This will make the church very living, active, functioning, and working according to the Lord’s desire. (The Overcomers, ch. 3)
