This bust, crafted in century AD, depicts the Roman Emperor Commodus, who ruled from AD, and also co-ruled with his father Marcus Aurelius from AD. I chose this picture because it is another work of art from the Roman Empire time period.

One of the Worst Roman Emperors: Commodus (180-192) was lazy and led a life of debauchery surrendering control to his freedmen and praetorian prefects who then sold imperial favors. He disgraced his status by performing like a slave in the arena. He styled himself the Roman Hercules. © Trustees of the British Museum, produced by Natalia Bauer for the Portable Antiquities Scheme
