The story, as recounted in her 2007 cookbook (“Demolition Desserts”), goes that she invented it as a way to give the restaurant’s chef, Traci Des Jardins, “a bouquet of roses in edible form.”  The dessert — a deconstructed creme brulee with caramel crisps and saffron-pistachio cookies — eventually went on to become a signature of Falkner’s San Francisco pastry shop…
