I am a big fan of Edna Lewis who was the granddaughter of of slaves. Her cooking reflects the food of the South and I am honored to share this recipe which is a huge success no matter the occasion.

Edna Lewis's Macaroni and Cheese. This was delicious. WAY better than Martha Stewart's Mac and Cheese recipe, in my opinion. I used around 12 ounces of pasta, as the notes in this recipe said that the amount could be increased. The custard mixture is so flavorful, and it's so easy to put together, with no standing over the stove stirring a roux. Rich & delicious.

A classic recipe from Edna Lewis and Scott Peacock, featuring a savory custard of grated onion, sour cream, half-and-half and heavy cream.
