Wrong is wrong! Get it? Some families disgust me...turning a blind eye when their family member does wrong. It makes the whole family look foolish. Embarrassingly foolish!!!

Scapegoating is one of the most difficult life situations a person can encounter. A notorious coping mechanism for dysfunctional families, scapegoating involves singling out a member, typically the truth-teller, & pegging them as the source of all that's wrong with the family (& the world).

You are allowed to terminate your relationship with toxic family members. You are allowed to walk away from people who hurt you. You are allowed to be angry & selfish & unforgiving & don't owe anyone an explanation for taking care of you.

We repeat family dysfunction. I came from many generations of alcoholism. When I was a little kid I wanted to be different than my dysfunctional family, but I ended up just like them. Once I did become clean and sober I ended up being the black sheep of the family. Some family traditions are meant to be broken.

Refuse to inherit dysfunction. Learn new ways of living instead of repeating what you lived through.

Chronically dysfunctioning families are also delusional. Delusion is sincere denial.
