Photographer Richard Burbridge, Italian artist Maurizio Anzeri and stylist Robbie Spencer created these string art portraits that combine black and white photography and intricate string work to make the images vibrant, 3D pieces. I am really digging this photo embroidery trend.
Radiant, luminous "crone" woman. During ancient times, the crones, hags and witches were frequently sages, leaders, midwives and healers in their communities and were revered for their wisdom and knowledge. As history evolved and a patriarchal society took hold, the definitions of the crone, (the crowned one) the hag, (the holy one), and the witch (the wise one) were distorted. May we again respect all elders and honor their wisdom. WILD WOMAN SISTERHOOD
I love this piece because of the body structure and the profile its in. I also like the idea that the face looks incomplete, like it's not really finished yet. I look and this and think, this guy is not really there; he is incomplete. linking to the hidden message which Jenny Saville uses in her artwork.
