From Dave Mustane who got booted for hard drug use and alcoholism to Cliff Burton who died in a bus crash in 1986. Both were replaced, respectively, by Kurt Hammet who is still with the band; and Jason Newsted who stayed with the band until 2001 until he left the band for creative differences and was replaces by Robert Trujillo.
