Danish Girl set design 006 : To find inspiration for the backstage of the theater where Ulla performs, Stewart visited the Royal Opera House in Paris. “I asked to see where the tutus were kept in the back, so I could see where Ulla would have gone to put on her shoes,” she says. “I walked in and found out that they always hang tutus upside down so that they’re really fluffy until the last possible minute.” This inspired the striking clouds of tutus hanging in the set.
