Charles Darwin - I find him inspiring because depsite what he wanted to believe and knowing how society at the time would react to his research findings he still stuck to what he thought was right and published anyway. He went against the grain for what he believed and I respect him for that.

Karl Pearson was introduced to Charles Darwin's cousin Francis Galton, a eugenics expert. Pearson became his protege. After Galton's death in 1911, Pearson...wrote Galton's biography...done "to satisfy myself..." He predicted that Galton, rather than Charles Darwin, would be remembered...for his work. When Galton died, he left the residue of his estate to the University of London for a Chair in Eugenics. Pearson was the first holder of this chair—the Galton Chair of Eugenics.
