January 1960 - TELEVISION SETS AT SUPERMARKETS? A new kind of advertising in television is launched this week as New York independent station WNTA-TV (Channel 13) begins “Daywatch.” Broadcast from 9am to 6pm, Daywatch is a mix of background music with scrolled news, weather, time, household and beauty bits. Some 200 television sets have been installed at supermarkets around the metropolitan area, all tuned to channel 13 in the hopes that those waiting on line . . . .
