This is the famous mostly filled “Hotel Peña”, named last year by one of Mr. Peña’s, a math teacher here at Monte Vista, students. Mr. Peña thought of this brilliant and creative cell phone jail a couple years ago when a student walked into his classroom with his phone in hand and begged Mr. Peña, “Please take this from me.” Ever since, Mr. Peña wanted to create a class system where if a student voluntarily turned in their phone every day for a unit, then they would get extra credit.

"Cell Phone Day Care" a place for students to put their phones so they don't have them at their seats - but doubles as a charging station to encourage them to put them there. Day 1 was successful - ho.

In my Harry Potter themed classroom, I needed a place to put the phone-holder. I take attendance by this and it has helped SO MUCH with keeping my students off of their phones in class. They called it "phone jail" so when I decided on the HP theme, what could be better than a bulletin board of Azkaban?

Cell phones in the classroom: I took an inexpensive over-the-door shoe holder and created a "Cell Phone Parking Lot" for my classroom. I added vinyl numbers created with my Cricut machine. I plan to hang this near my desk. Numbers will be assigned based on the same number iPad that students will be assigned. This is awesome!
