I've been using this for almost a month, and it really works.  For me, the best part is that it lets me know how many calories I have for the rest of the day, so I choose what I eat to make sure I have enough to eat for the entire day.  I love how you can scan things in and search for foods, especially at restaurants, and change the serving size.  If I had to write it down in a notebook, I never would.  I've been telling everyone about it!
