My angry face is looking forward to being home. I've been lucky enough to come out to Australia for the start of 2017. Which I couldn't do without friends whose kindness constantly surprises me offering me their homes taking me out for New Year's Eve taking me for meals and other lovely things I usually wouldn't be able to afford to do. Bara Brith translates to ‘speckled bread’ (in Welsh) and is a rich fruit loaf made with tea. Produced all over Wales the spiced fruit loaf is delicious when spread with salted Welsh butter. It can be either a yeast bread enriched with dried fruit (similar to the Irish barmbrack) or something more like a fruitcake made with self-raising flour (no yeast). It is traditionally made with raisins, currants and candied peel.
