Usain Bolt may have been the only athlete who upstaged swimmer Michael Phelps in the recent Beijing Olympics. The Jamaican sprinter surprisingly set two individual world records in the 100 and 200 meters and was part of a 4×100 relay world record Jamaican team.
German rider Peter Schumacher went on trial in Stuttgart on Wednesday (April 10) following his recent doping admission. In an interview with German magazine Der Spiegel last month, Schumacher said that doping was part of his training just like eating a "plate of pasta". Schumacher tested positive for the blood-boosting drug EPO-CERA at the 2008 Tour de France and the Beijing Olympic Games but had always previously denied cheating. He was given a two-year ban, which was later reduced.

Construction began in 2008, to coincide with that year's Summer Olympics and completed/opened in 2014. It is used strictly for observation; there is no provision for offices or apartments. 258 metres (846 ft) in height, its design, with 4 smaller circular floors at different heights and positions below a larger top floor, is meant to echo the Olympic rings.
