The Best Batter Yet. I took an old Beer Batter recipe and changed it to suit me. So we never go out for Fish n Chips anymore because we like mine better. Mix 1 cup flour 1 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda 1 tbsp sugar Add about 1& 1/2 cups club soda( original recipe called for 1cup of beer) I just add the whole can of club soda for a thinner batter. Whisk well. Add 1 beaten egg and 1 tbsp of oil. Roll pieces of fresh haddock in flour and then deep fry until golden brown.
