Derwentwater or Derwent Water, a lake in Keswick, Cumbria England. A predominantly rural county, Cumbria is considered one of the most beautiful regions of the UK and includes the whole of the Lake District, also known as The Lakes or Lakeland, the Eden Valley, the North Pennines, the Furness Peninsula, and part of the Yorkshire Dales.
Bassenthwaite Lake ~ Lake District ~ UK. Have walked around most of this lake and we go and stay in a little village within walking distance from the lake each year. There are also Ospreys that nest on this lake and I love watching them flying and fishing. Wonderful, peaceful place to visit.
Gondola, Coniston Water, Lake District (4.6 miles). The beautiful Steam Yacht Gondola was first launched in 1859 then rescued and rebuilt by the National Trust in 1980. Coniston itself is a walkers' paradise with many making the summit of the Old Man their goal. Foodies should seek out nearby Yew Tree Farm, another National Trust tenant, which featured in the film Miss Potter with Renee Zellwegger and sells delicious farm-bred Herdwick and Belted Galloway meat.
Skiddaw & Bassenthwaite Lake from Binsey - Binsey is the most northerly hill in the Lake District National Park and offers those who climb it a wonderful view of the northern hills and mountains of this area. I've climbed it countless times and never get bored of the view. The sun sets perfectly on the surrounding pastures, and here I was rewarded with some spectacular contrast with the foreboding backdrop.
