Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children the first hospital in England dedicated to children (1830-1880). In the middle of the nineteenth century, most English people still seemed to think that, at this early stage of life at least, nature should be allowed to take its course. Of the 50,000 or so people dying annually in the capital at that time, 21,000 were children less than ten years old.
Also referred to as the Dome Room, the Barry Rooms opened in 1876 as part of the Edward Middleton Barry extensions. These rooms can suit a range of events from large scale dinners to intimate receptions. #NationalGalleryEvents #BarryRooms #Dome #BeautifulArchitecture #EventVenue #BritishPortraits
