Barbara Stanwyck for Gambling Lady (1934) Edith Head designed most of the costumes for her movies, she had a long waist, Edith solved the problem by: drawing a viewer's attention up around Stanwyck's chest and shoulders, using wide belts, and by bringing the waists of Stanwyck's clothing higher up.


BARBARA STANWYCK. Born: Ruby Catherine Stevens. July 16, 1907 in New York, USA. Died: January 20, 1990 (age 82) of Congestive Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive lung disease & Emphysema in California, USA. Known for, "The Colbys" (1985 - 1986). She was considered for the role of 'Margo Channing' in "All About Eve" (1950) after Claudette Colbert was forced to pull out of the project due to back injury. However the part was given to Bette Davis, who went on to receive a Best Actress Oscar.
