Bruce McLaren (pictured) battled four World Champions (Phil and Graham Hill, Jack Brabham, and Jim Clark) on his way to a thrilling victory in his Cooper T79 Climax at the 1 March 1965 Australian Grand Prix at Longford.  Jack Brabham took P2 and Phil Hill P3 in the race, which was marred by the tragic death of Australian driver Rocky Tresise and photographer Robin D'Abrera, who were killed in a first lap accident.

Australian driver Lex Davidson piloted his Ferrari 625F1 (pictured) to victory on 4 March 1957 at the Australian Grand Prix, held on a street circuit in Caversham. Davidson went on to win the 1957 Australian Drivers' Championship, and won the Australian Grand Prix four times between 1954 and 1961.

The 25 February 1968 Australian Grand Prix featured a star studded field, with Jim Clark, Chris Amon, and Jack Brabham on the front row (pictured). Brabham started the race on pole, Amon drove the fastest race lap, but Scotsman Jim Clark powered his Lotus 49T to his last major victory. Clark, a double world champion and Indy 500 winner, was killed in a crash in Germany just 6 weeks later.
