Yesterday, I had the privilege of venerating the first class relics of St. Maria Goretti, the youngest canonized saint in the Catholic Church. While the time with her relics was brief due to the crowds, it was still a powerful experience.

Maria Goretti, 1890-1902, is a martyr of the Roman Catholic Church, one of the youngest canonized saints. She died from multiple stab wounds inflicted by her attempted rapist after she refused to submit to him. After his release, Alessandro Serenelli visited Maria's still-living mother, Assunta, and begged her forgiveness.
