National parks like Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado protect some of the last remaining dark night skies, which remind us of our connection to the cosmos and serve as a critical resource for animals to navigate, mate and hunt. As the saying goes, half the park is after dark -- stay past sunset to experience stargazing and solitude away from city lights. Milky Way photo courtesy of Tyler Nordgren.
Bustle gown with ball and dinner bodices, by Charles Frederick Worth, c. 1885, Vintage Textile. Silk brocade, silk satin, cotton lace. The fabric has stalks of grain and large blossoms, common motifs in Worth's designs. Acquired by the Phoenix Art Museum Collection in 2007 for the exhibit "After Dark: 100 Years of the Evening Dress." See VintageTextile.com on Facebook.
I love the simplicity of this lighting. Flowers are great for daylight when the colors pop, but I think lighting steals the show after dark when people are immersed in the ambience and hopefully out on the dance floor
