June 10 full length by GungFace ...an enormous 15 metre tall baobab tree sculpture in Southbank, as part of the Festival of the World exhibition. Each ring is made by people and material from around the globe. I read up a little on its history - the baobab tree is the oldest living specimen in Africa, a symbol for meditation and community.
Afar (Ethiopia). Some say the Afar are descendants of the Egyptian pharaohs. They share some similarities in the way people wear their hair and shawls draped loosely over their shoulders, a few words of their language, and use symbols reminiscent of hieroglyphics to mark their camels.
