(B) Aberlour 12 / Double Cask Matured (Speyside): This malt MUST be given time to open - both in the bottle and the glass. Without, it has an odd dusty quality which can be off-putting. However, when given time to open, the malty nose presents green apple and toffee. On the palate, more apple, oak, vanilla and other spices. Finish is sweet and creamy but eventually dries out. Slight deduction in grade for the rough start, but ultimately a fine drink.
