Day 2 Following the arrival of the group flights in the early afternoon, we drive to Gorongosa National Park. Gorongosa National Park is located in the Sofala province which is a region with a vast diversity of fauna, flora and incredible diversity in wildlife, with unique environmental characteristics. The drive to Gorongosa is about 3 hours so we should arrive at our lodge in time to get settled and enjoy sundowners before dinner.
Day 3 We spend a full day in Gorongosa National Park. We’ll have a morning game drive, with a stop for breakfast along the way. We’ll return to the lodge for lunch and to relax in the heat of the day before heading out for an afternoon game drive. We’ll go to Bue Marie Point for sunset and return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 5 - 6 The next days will be spent sailing the Bazaruto Archipelago. The park boasts a wide abundance of reef fish including surgeon, Moorish idols, Parrot, Angel and Butterfly fish to name but a few. There will be time to snorkel on the base reef and explore the island. If you are lucky, dugongs are sometimes seen in the channel between Bazaruto and Benguerra Island.
Day 7 Today we will head further south to Tofo, which is approximately a 4hr drive. We should arrive by early afternoon. Tofo is a beautiful location with rolling beaches and a stunning turquoise ocean. The afternoon is free to relax on the beach or participate in a variety of optional activities. There is a chance here for going scuba diving, whale watching (in season), or to just relax on the beautiful beaches of the Indian Ocean.
Day 8 On this excursion you will have a rare opportunity to swim alongside the largest living species of fish, observed up to 18m in length. Whale sharks are found across the globe. Our excursion here combines snorkeling at two reefs with open ocean trips swimming with Tofo’s ‘big 5’, namely the giant and extremely curious Whale sharks, Manta rays, Devil rays, turtles, dolphins and Humpback whales.
Day 10 Today we have a full day in Inhassaro to explore the town, relax on the beach or participate in a variety of optional activities. There is the chance to spend the day on the Indian Ocean, going on dhow trips, diving, or snorkelling, or to take a day trip to ‘Paradise Island’. Santa Carolina is a true rock island with deep channels and is just 3 km by 0.5 km in size. It has three beautiful beaches with coral reefs close to the shore.
