The Classic Lemon Meringue Pie
Being a serious sweet tooth, I love classic lemon meringue pie. I've tasted many versions of it, and after many baking attempts at home I've now perfected the recipe for the way I like my lemon meringue. It should be tangy enough to get your tongue in a twist, but just sweet enough to make you go back for more.
The first time that I had “souskluitjies” for dessert, was at my Grandma Naomi Uys’s house in Johannesburg when I was about 15 years old. My Ouma was a very grand lady – perfectly groomed, well-traveled, informed and very stylish. Their townhouse in Northcliff was impeccable, filled with beautiful Persian carpets and mohair curtains.
Bobotie revisited - Cooksister | Food, Travel, Photography
Bobotie is a classic South African dish of gently-spiced ground meat full of raisins which is then oven-baked with a layer of savory egg custard on top to form a crust and keep the meat moist. Tradionally it is served with Yellow Rice. ♥ Cook Sisters!
