Vertical Plastic Bottle Garden

All you need is a small amount of vertical space around a balcony or an open window which can hang or store a vertical array of drink bottles that can grow all your herbs and lettuce easily. Recycle as many of your plastic drink containers.

Olla Watering Irrigation: You burry these terra cotta containers in your soil up to the mouth of the vessel. Add water inside and they slowly release it by wicking through the earthenware, keeping soil consistently damp, all while saving water-loss from evaporation.

Porous Ollas, filled with water & buried neck deep near plants, allow direct irrigation of plant roots. Roots, growing in search of water, form a dense mass around the olla.

DIY Holiday Gift Plant Projects. Put several cans of herbs into a wrapped and lined shallow box for a complete herb garden gift (Think clear containers like what baby spinach comes in to serves as a liner to catch water.) Don't forget to drill holes in the bottom of the cans.

A holiday centerpiece perfect for Christmas—wrap upcycled soup cans in upholstery tape, and secure with twine. Place small rosemary plants in cans. Guests can take these home and use in cooking or to plant in their gardens. by SAburns
