Grade 10 ICT pupils did a “Device Dissection Project”. Each pair of pupils had to open up an old electronic device and identify the computer components inside (CPU, ROM, RAM etc). Among the devices dissected were cellphones, Playstation, iPod and others.
During the first term the Grade 2 pupils have been learning all about birds during their first classes in Information and Communication Technology. They had a chance to 'draw' their own birds using Microsoft Word. They also revisited important concepts taught in Grade 1 like click, drag, double click and changing properties of shapes.
Grade 2 pupils learned about Pirates during ICT lessons. Through a “webquest“ in the IT room they learned about pirate weapons, food, vocabulary and dress code. They paired reading in order to find information.
As part of their Integrated Learning Tasks, Grade 5 pupils watched a photo story presentation in pairs. The photo story showed them soil creatures which were supposedly found in Mr Raven's garden. They had to draw up a tally table of the number of soil creatures of various kinds which they could count. They reflected their results on a bar graph and pictograph.
Claire Fielden was one of the South African Semi-Finalists in the recent Microsoft Office Specialist Championships held at Elkanah House. She recently received the acknowledgement of achievement for being top in South Africa for the Microsoft Word 2010 category.
